Whereas, Colon Hydrotherapy, a natural health care complimentary service available to the public by colon
hydro therapists that are HIGHLY TRAINED, with high standards for safety and effectiveness, not to mention, rarely, if any injuries really reported, would like legislation to protect the therapist who provides such services.
In California, Colon therapist's right to work, pay taxes, employee qualified people, and help millions with all sorts of bowel issues, is being challenged, regardless of the amount of PROOF presented, over and over again, to both regulatory boards and medical boards, impacting this service. Most of this information gets buried, but in the 1980's Connie Allred, went to Sacramento, and WON, the right to practice, because there was not a shred of actual proof that in her 35 yrs of practice, even one client was injured. Quite the opposite, we work with doctors, that are always pleased in the roll we play to help there suffering patients, our clients.
Both practitioner and consumers freedom of choice as it relates to individual health care is being denied, despite i-act.org and the National Board of Colon Hydro therapist Certification exams, structured curriculum and training.
Currently, 26 countries outside the USA, use colon hydrotherapy to prep patients for surgeries, in clinics, for health and well-being and license this practice. Some of these countries barely have the proper equipment, nor standards of practice guidelines, continuing education hours and credentials, that we have had for over 20 years in the USA.
In 2012, please speak to your health care practitioners, not just Internet jargon, congressman, doctors and anybody that will listen that might support the effort to protect the profession of Colon Hydrotherapy.
We would like "safe harbor legislation," to practice, as under license, autonomy of the profession (not under a doctor's prescription), for those of us that receive appropriate training, certifications and continuing education such as provided by I-ACT (International Association for Colon Therapists).
We do not practice medicine. We follow strict FDA guidelines, have liability insurance, are willing to train medical persons, plumbing regulations and follow OSHA guidelines, and it still amazes some of us that you can get a license to be a "fortune teller" in California, but not a professional colon hydro therapist.
If you have any ideas, petitions, or are a politician that has experienced the benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy, please contact
I-ACT at 210-366-2888. Remember, we are a "grass roots" organization, and don't have millions to lobby, but we have millions to testify that they want their human civil rights to get colonics without fear. Licensing will bring revenue to each state. We have drafted further guidelines, so all parties will come out winners, financially, occupationally, and legally.
Thank you,
Talya M, Los Angeles, CA
